Orvieto & Assisi day trip from Rome – Private tour with driver to see the most beautiful sites of the Umbria region

The tour will begin with your private driver collecting you from your hotel in Rome (another custom location in the area can be agreed) with a luxury sedan or minivan, and after 1.5H drive you will reach Orvieto.

Orvieto is a beautiful town of Etruscan origin sits on a high cliff overlooking the surrounding countryside. Going through its charming historical center rich with Renaissance and Medieval palaces you will reach Orvieto’s main attraction: the Cathedral, started in 1290, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. After the visit of Orvieto the trip will continue to Assisi, that you will reach in 1.5H driving.

With the plains spreading picturesquely below and Monte Subasio rearing steep and wooded above, the mere sight of Assisi in the rosy glow of dusk is marvelous. It’s at this hour, when the town is shrouded in saintly silence, that the true spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, born here in 1181, can be felt most keenly. However, you don’t have to be religious to be struck by Assisi’s beauty and enjoy its pristine historic centre and Unesco listed Basilica di San Francesco, home to one of Italy’s most celebrated artistic masterpieces by Giotto and Cimabue. During your visit in Assisi you can have lunch in a typical restaurant to enjoy the delicious dishes of the Umbrian cuisine.

At the end of the day, the tour will then conclude with a transfer back to your hotel in Rome or other desired location.
