Genoa and Portofino day trip from Milan

The tour will begin with your private driver collecting you from your hotel in Milan (another custom location in the area can be agreed) with a luxury sedan or minivan. After 1,5H drive you will reach Genoa, world-famous town for the important role of the port on the sea.

In Genoa, you will meet your licensed private guide and together will learn about the ancient and more recent history of this charming city. The tour commence with a visit of the thirteenth century Doge’s Palace, before heading to the Christopher Columbus’ home. The navigator was born in this now ivy-covered stone building and spent much of his early life in the streets and port of Genoa. The tour will continue to the Spianata Castelletto, a romantic viewing-point of the city. After a view from the top of Genoa, you’ll move through Via Garibaldi and Palazzi dei Rolli, a UNESCO world Heritage site. Next stop at the gothic Cattedrale di San Lorenzo and Piazza Caricamento.

While in Genoa (or later in Portofino), there will be time for a lunch break enjoying the excellent culinary traditions of Liguria. Be sure to taste the local dish “trofie with pesto” and “focaccia”!

After Genoa, together with your private driver you’ll proceed direction of the picturesque seaside village of Santa Margherita Ligure. While touring this scenic town you’ll admire the pastel buildings that line the coast and the fishing boats that bob gently in the bay.

Next you’ll get to Portofino, driving along the coast of the Tigullio Gulf. Known all over the world for the jet-set lifestyle blending to the real authentic Italian Dolce Vita and a breathtaking view of the bay will be enjoyed from the car while driving to destination. In Portofino you can have a walk and free time to shop and take photos. Or, you can simply relax with an espresso or glass of wine while taking in the lush gardens and luxury yachts that characterize this village, which is a popular vacation spot for celebrities.

The tour will then conclude with a transfer back to your hotel in Milan or other desired location.
